Need your star player to gut out a tough injury to win a crucial game? Want to save him to fight another day? Are you willing to risk further injury by using your injured star too hard, too much, to often? These are just some of the decisions you'll be forced to grapple with in Madden 10's new injury system.
In the latest blog post (http://maddennfl.easports.com/blog.action?blogId=Revamping%20Injuries) the development team explains how they wanted to "emulate all of this strategy, suspense, and emotion behind injuries" in the real game in Madden 10. There are over 100 different injuries in the game, and even minor ones have a branching tree of more severe problems if you make the wrong call on when, and how, to utilize an injured player. You'll see a progression like: Bruised Knee ->
Sprained Knee -> Partially Torn PCL -> Fully Torn PCL -> Fully
Torn PCL and ACL, and at each step of the way you'll be prompted to make the call on whether to bring the player back into the action.
As sliders make a return for Madden 10 you can adjust the injury frequency to your liking, and the decision scenario and risk factors will apply in online play as well. For the full story click the link above.
